Dear Grenadier Families,

I hope that you enjoyed your summer, and that you are excited for the 2018-2019 school year!

In June, the FLDOE released scores for all statewide assessments.  I am pleased to share with you that every tested area demonstrated an increase for a total of 51 points.  Additionally, our graduation rate will reflect 96% and the acceleration rate will be 68%.  This is the highest in our school history.  These two indicators are an important component when calculating our school grade for the 2019-2020 school year.  We must continue to build upon this momentum and continue to focus on increasing student learning gains, as well as student proficiency.

Family engagement is extremely important to me.  The impact that family engagement has on both student achievement and school improvement is profound; together we will continue to build upon our success to ensure our students are college and career ready.

I encourage you to participate in one or more organizations, such as the “Parent Teacher Student Association” (PTSA), “Parent Leadership Council” (PLC), or the “School Advisory Council” (SAC).  I am thankful for our many parent volunteers.  The deep support of parents and the community continues to have a very positive impact on our school.   Please make sure to sign up for the Colonial Connection to receive weekly updates regarding events and important announcements at Colonial.  This can be done via our school website.

I am looking forward to yet another successful school year!  “It’s GREAT to be A Grenadier!”

I look forward to seeing you all very soon.
