Colonial High School Families,
The first nine weeks of the school year have ended, and I am proud of the hard work, perseverance, and growth our students have demonstrated throughout Quarter 1. As we begin the second quarter, I encourage every student to take advantage of the many academic supports available at Colonial High School.
Quarter 1 report cards are now available in Skyward. Families may access their student's report card through the parent portal. Please take time to review your student's academic progress and discuss goals for the second quarter. Here is a video tutorial on how to view report cards in Skyward. If you need assistance accessing Skyward or viewing your student's report card, please contact our Parent Engagement Liaison, Ms. Jasmine Salmon, at Jasmine.Salmon@ocps.net or 407-482-6300 ext. 6022424. We are happy to help.
As a reminder, Colonial High School offers after-school tutoring every Tuesday and Thursday on the Main Campus from 2:45 PM – 5:00 PM. Snacks are provided, and transportation home is provided for students who qualify for district transportation services. We strongly encourage students to take advantage of this opportunity to receive additional academic support and strengthen their understanding of course content.

Exploring Careers in Healthcare!
ELEVATE Orlando students had an incredible opportunity to go behind the scenes at AdventHealth and experience firsthand what it takes to keep a hospital running each day. Students explored five different departments, including nursing, rehabilitation services, imaging, the blood lab, and surgical equipment sanitation and sterilization.
Because the tour took place during normal operating hours, students were able to see the real pace of hospital life and learn how many different professionals work together to provide quality patient care. Experiences like this help students connect their interests to future careers and discover the many possibilities available in healthcare!

Our ELEVATE Orlando students had an incredible opportunity to participate in a job shadow experience with Evolve Technology, getting an inside look at what life is like behind the scenes in the world of technology and production! Students got hands-on experience with camera operation, stage production, lighting, audio adjustments, and camera zoom techniques. They also learned directly from industry professionals who shared their knowledge and gave students a glimpse into a day in the life of a technology professional. Experiences like these allow our students to explore new career paths, develop new skills, and discover possibilities they may have never considered before. We are grateful to Evolve Technology for opening their doors and investing in the next generation! |
